Though he’s usually more comfortable playing sideman to Gillian Welch, David Rawlings took the spotlight for this 2009 release. Friend of A Friend consists of an hardy mix of originals and covers recorded at the legendary RCA Studio B in Nashville. The David Rawlings Machine includes Welch along with Ketch Secor, Willie Watson, Morgan Jahnig and Kevin Hayes of Old Crow Medicine Show. “I Hear Them All” was first recorded by Old Crow Medicine Show for the album Big Iron World.
